Ich-Kien Lao
President
Kien has been working in the wireless communications and digital video industries for more than twenty nine years as an engineer and a hands-on senior executive. Prior to forming Effician, Kien was co-founder of Integrian Inc., where he held multiple executive management positions, most recently as Vice President of Product Development. Kien has had direct responsibility for cellular telephone development at both Ericsson and Millidyne, Inc. In addition, Kien has extensive experience in two-way land mobile communications and electronic circuit design at Aerotron, Inc. and General Electric Co. Kien leads a broad range of activities including research, design, and development of hardware and software platforms.
Kien is also an entrepreneur, who has built three successful technology companies from the ground up. Kien strongly believes in providing the best value services and products to customers. At Effician, Kien insists on integrity and employees who take pride and ownership in everything they do.
Kien obtained his MSEE degree from Ohio State University and BSEE from Ohio State University.
Kevin Williams
Vice President - System Development
Kevin has over twenty-two years of software development and engineering management experience. Prior to joining Effician, Kevin was Director of Software at Integrian, Inc., developing specialized Digital Video Products for the Public Safety and Transit Security markets. Kevin has also managed embedded tool development at IBM for PowerPC microprocessor platforms. Kevin has successfully designed and deployed commercial software platforms and has a strong background in process, requirement definition, custom applications, embedded software design, quality analysis, and performance testing. Kevin also has extensive experience in project and line management of engineering activities.
Kevin obtained his BSCS from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton, NY.
Elliott Newcombe
Vice President – Sales & Marketing
With over 23 years of technology industry experience working with small to Fortune 500 companies, Elliott has a successful record of driving revenue through effective product marketing strategies and strong sales efforts. He started his career as a Marketing Engineer for Harris Semiconductor and then quickly accelerated into product management followed by positions in sales and product marketing.
Elliott’s recent previous positions include managing worldwide marketing for IBM’s embedded PowerPC microprocessors and Director of Marketing at Intellon, overseeing the rollout of Intellon’s HomePlug powerline communications chipsets. Elliott has also held positions at MCNC, S-MOS Systems, and Handheld Products.
Elliott holds a B.S in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and a B.A. in Business Management from North Carolina State University.
Randy Martinez
Vice President - Product Development
Randy has twenty years of experience in the design, development, and test of hardware systems for various wireless and video products for both the military and commercial industries. Prior to joining Effician, Randy was the Director of Hardware Development at Integrian, Inc. where he managed the hardware design of digital video recorder products for the public safety and transit markets. Previously, Randy managed the handset development group at ReadyCom, Inc. where he was responsible for the development of a two-way cellular pager product. Prior to ReadyCom, Randy was a first line manager at Harris Corporation, Aerospace Systems Division, where he contributed to the hardware designs of various advanced weapon data links for the military. Randy is experienced in the full development cycle from the proposal stage to manufacturing. Randy has held various functional roles including developer, system engineer, verification and test engineer, and project manager.
Randy obtained a BSEE and MSEE from North Carolina State University.
